Google recently released the fourth beta of its next operating system, Android 10 Q. The new OS will come with a good list of new features, such as the arrival of Smart Lock or the possible version of Smart Stay by Samsung under the name “Screen Attention“. They are now joined by the facial release in the purest Apple style.

Of course, we must bear in mind that it is not a final version and many of these functions may change when the final Android 10 Q arrives next summer.

Android Q beta 4 continues revealing interesting details of what we can see in just two months in the final version of Android 10 Q. One of them is closely related to security because Google plans a facial recognition system that inevitably recalls to Apple’s FaceID.

Although the function is not yet active, it does appear in the Settings options when searching for “Face”. Thanks to facial authentication, the user can use this option to unlock the phone, start different applications or to make payments.

It is not the only information related to the new facial recognition of Google since within the options of Configuration has also appeared an icon related to biometric authentication that would confirm that Google is testing this function in Android Q.

Apple was the first to introduce a DR facial recognition sensor on the iPhone X, we have seen this feature later on other phones such as the Huawei Mate 20 Pro or the Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition. Now Google could take the final step to install it natively on all Android phones.
